Fire House Facts
During the week of Sept. 9 through Sept. 15, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 272 emergency calls for service, including:
• 12 General Fire Response
Including: 1 for a fire in a commercial compactor extinguished by the fire sprinkler system, 1 for a smoking A/C unit, 1 for a patio fire caused by a propane grill left on, and various alarms.
• 1 Mutual Aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with an emergency medical run in the County.
• 17 Motor Vehicle Crashes
Including: 2 involving 3 vehicles, 1 involving a house, 3 involving pedestrians, and 1 head on collision.
• 228 Other Medical Emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 17 for difficulty breathing, 23 for chest pain, 22 fall victims, 12 unconscious people, 6 seizure cases, 7 possible stroke cases, 9 for intoxicated persons, 2 persons under the influence of drugs, 4 overdose cases, 20 people with psychiatric problems, 3 for heat illness, 5 medical alarms, 3 for allergic reactions, 2 for choking, 14 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 1 for fever, 3 for broken bones, 5 for diabetic emergencies, 1 for a bee sting, 8 for “man down” calls, 2 for bad headaches, 2 for assaults, 7 for back pain, 9 for abdominal pain, 1 pregnancy related, 2 for deceased persons, 2 for lacerations, 2 sports related injuries, 1 for a 3 year old with their finger stuck in a can of vegetables, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 snake removal, 1 for power pole smoking, 1 for vehicle leaking fuel, 1 for a fire in a bathtub, 1 for a transformer explosion, 2 for vehicle fires, and various alarms.
