Thanks to all who supported 2018 Bowlio
Saturday, Sept. 8, marked the 6th annual edition of Bowlio. This very popular event, sponsored by the area Rotary Club, raises money to be contributed to Rotary International’s PolioPlus Fund. Those funds are dedicated toward the eradication, worldwide, of the horrible disease polio. Over the past six years, over $20,000 has been raised and the total keeps climbing. Of course that can’t be done without great sponsors like Inca Lanes where the event was held and Penn Neon Sign Co., who did all of the banners and signage. New competitions were added this year like the First Responder’s Challenge, won by the Yuma Police Department, and the Take A Bite Out Of Bowlio Restaurant Challenge, won by Buffalo Wild Wings. The Media Challenge was dominated by KAWC’s Dave Riek and the Mary McCloud Trophy went to the San Luis Frontera Rotary Club as the highest scoring Rotary Club.
We wish to thank all of our great sponsors, including Yuma Investment Group, Accurate Automotive Attention, Hansberger Refrigeration & Electric Company, Buffalo Wild Wings, Brewer’s Restaurant & Sports Bar, Hooters, Prison Hill Brewing Company, Burgers & Beer, KAWC, KECY, KYMA, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Shay Oil Company, WestCare Financial, Yuma Foot & Ankle Surgeons, Frost, PLLC/TST Enterprises LLC, Misenhimer, Aivazian & Tennant, PC, Klein’s Kustom Electric, Inc, Southwest Accounting Services, KFE Limited, Yuma Insurance, Inc., and Arbor Tech.
Plus the local Rotary Clubs: Yuma North End, San Luis Frontera, Yuma Foothills, Yuma Rotary, Sunrise Rotary, Somerton Rotary and Crossing Rotary. Along with individuals like Barbara Snow, Anne Fisher, Sheryl Christenson and Glen Vandervoort.
There were great prizes won during the “Skins” game contest and a unique contribution was the silent auction “Art Balls” created by the artists of the Littlewood Fine Art & Community Co-op. They were designs made from cast aside bowling balls and the creativity was unbelievable. All of this and more will be present at Bowlio VII in 2019. CHUCK NORDQUIST Yuma
