Boys soccer: Gutierrez hat trick leads YC to win

Eleuterio Gutierrez had a hat trick to lead the Yuma Catholic boys soccer team to a 4-0 victory at American Leadership AcademyQue­en Creek on Monday night.

Ed Morales had the other goal for the Shamrocks, who were playing their season opener.

Filiberto Quintero, Michael Johnson, Junior Mendez and Charbel Curiel had one assist each.

Boys hoops: Sidewinder­s beat Rams in opener

The San Luis boys basketball team opened its season with a 6557 victory at Antelope on Monday night.

Jonathan Padilla (18 points, 4 rebounds), Hector Castro (16 points, 6 rebounds) and Fernando Avilez (15 points) led the way for the Sidewinder­s.

For the Rams, William Whitley led all scorers with 21 points, while Dylan Thomas also finished in double figures with 16.

ASU’s N’Keal Harry to skip senior season for NFL

TEMPE — Arizona State receiver N’Keal Harry will skip his senior season to enter the NFL draft.

Harry made the announceme­nt Monday with coach Herm Edwards at his side.

Harry is third in Arizona State history with 213 career receptions and 2,889 yards, needing 50 yards in the Sun Devils’ bowl game to take over second. He averages 5.76 receptions per game, third among the NCAA active career leaders.

Despite facing double teams most of the time, Harry leads the Sun Devils with 73 receptions, 1,088 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.

The 6-foot-4, 213-pound receiver is projected to be a firstround NFL draft pick, possibly the first receiver to come off the board.

NFL suspends Jags RB Fournette 1 game for fight

JACKSONVIL­LE, Fla. — The NFL has suspended Jacksonvil­le Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette one game without pay for leaving the sideline, running across the field and throwing punches at Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson.
