Fire House Facts
During the week of Dec. 30 though Jan. 5, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 303 emergency calls for service, including:
• 20 General Fire Responses
Including: 2 for cooking fires, 2 for illegal backyard trash fires, 1 for a power transformer fire, 1 for a dumpster fire, 1 for an RV trailer fire, 1 for a strong smell of gas, and various alarms.
• 24 Motor Vehicle Crashes
Including: 1 involving a motorcycle, 1 involving a building, 2 involving 3 or more vehicles, 1 reported as head-on, and 2 involving pedestrians.
• 243 Other Medical Emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 35 for difficulty breathing, 20 for chest pain, 38 for falls, 18 for unconscious people, 5 seizure cases, 6 possible stroke cases, 1 for an intoxicated person, 2 for persons under the influence of drugs, 2 for drug overdoses, 19 for people with psychiatric problems, 1 for a medical alarm, 1 for child locked in a vehicle, 2 for allergic reactions, 14 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 6 for fevers, 3 for diabetic emergencies, 5 for man down calls, 2 for bad headaches, 1 for a 2 year old who ingested prescription medication, 5 for assaults, 11 for back pain, 8 for abdominal pain, 4 deceased persons, 1 for lacerations, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 2 for strong gas smells, 1 for an illegal backyard trash fire, 1 for a leaking propane tank, 1 for a small brush fire along the Colorado River, and various alarms.
