Dur­ing the week of Dec. 30 though Jan. 5, the Yuma Fire Depart­ment re­sponded to 303 emer­gency calls for ser­vice, in­clud­ing:

• 20 Gen­eral Fire Re­sponses

In­clud­ing: 2 for cook­ing fires, 2 for il­le­gal back­yard trash fires, 1 for a power trans­former fire, 1 for a dump­ster fire, 1 for an RV trailer fire, 1 for a strong smell of gas, and var­i­ous alarms.

• 24 Mo­tor Ve­hi­cle Crashes

In­clud­ing: 1 in­volv­ing a mo­tor­cy­cle, 1 in­volv­ing a build­ing, 2 in­volv­ing 3 or more ve­hi­cles, 1 re­ported as head-on, and 2 in­volv­ing pedes­tri­ans.

• 243 Other Med­i­cal Emer­gen­cies (se­ri­ous to mi­nor)

In­clud­ing: 35 for dif­fi­culty breath­ing, 20 for chest pain, 38 for falls, 18 for un­con­scious peo­ple, 5 seizure cases, 6 pos­si­ble stroke cases, 1 for an in­tox­i­cated per­son, 2 for per­sons un­der the in­flu­ence of drugs, 2 for drug over­doses, 19 for peo­ple with psy­chi­atric prob­lems, 1 for a med­i­cal alarm, 1 for child locked in a ve­hi­cle, 2 for al­ler­gic re­ac­tions, 14 for al­tered or de­creased level of con­scious­ness, 6 for fevers, 3 for di­a­betic emer­gen­cies, 5 for man down calls, 2 for bad headaches, 1 for a 2 year old who in­gested pre­scrip­tion med­i­ca­tion, 5 for as­saults, 11 for back pain, 8 for ab­dom­i­nal pain, 4 de­ceased per­sons, 1 for lac­er­a­tions, and other ill­nesses and in­juries.

• 16 Spe­cial Duty, Pub­lic As­sis­tance, and Res­i­den­tial As­sign­ments

In­clud­ing: 2 for strong gas smells, 1 for an il­le­gal back­yard trash fire, 1 for a leak­ing propane tank, 1 for a small brush fire along the Colorado River, and var­i­ous alarms.
