On Friday, Jan. 4 at the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course, the Mixed Scramble winners were Dave Nicholls, Larry Schiebelbein and Sonya Phillips. The second-place finishers were Jim Dooley, Brent Black, Carol Lemly and Pete Barber with Rick Erickson, Donna Burnside, Tom Chestnut and Anne Arnsten taking third place.

T C Covarrubias and Jeremy Caddell posted a gross score of 65 to win the gross division of the Desert Hills Men’s Club Monthly Modified Chapman and Scramble tournament on Saturday morning. Second place went to the team of Larry Bicknell and Perry Pensky with a 67 and Josh Welch and Joe Catanzaro took third place gross with a 68. Dave Echols and Jose Rodriguez were the net division winners with a score of 58, with Rian Baas and Sam Carroll winning second place in the net division with a 59. The KP winners were Mike Pancrazi and Steve Schulte on hole 4, Juan Ramos and Alex Munoz on hole 8, Tony Zendejas and Hobo Amick on the 15th hole and Alex Munoz and Juan Ramos on the 17th hole.

The next DHMGA monthly tournament will be played on Saturday, Feb. 2, and will be a two man best ball format. Members may contact Bruce Clark at 5806436 for entry or more information.

Hole-in-one congratulations are extended to Terry Matthews for his ace on the 116 yard 5th hole at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Monday, Jan 7. Matthews used a wedge for the 116 yard shot to record his first hole- in-one.

Caroline and Jim Tainsh teamed with Jamie Stroyan and Sean Kidd for a gross score of 63 to win the gross division of “Willie Couples” play on Sunday afternoon at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Glynn McLaughlin and Marlene Kissner and Ron Davis and Conrad Becker were the net division winners with a score of 62.2.

Cheryl Mikkola posted a score of 29 to win first place in the first flight of the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course, first 5 last 4, Tournament on Monday morning with Sue Morgenthaler taking second place with a score of 34. In the second flight, Eileen Widdison was the winner with Betty Szmyrko and Colleen Scott tied for second place. The third flight winner was Linda Hughes with Pam Brown taking second place. Lindy Smith won the 4th flight with Lorraine Breault taking second place.

On Monday at the Foothills Par 3 Golf Course the men’s league gross score winners were Rob Grause, Dick Saegert and Rollie Harris. The net score winners were Tom Cooper, Doug Buysman and Glade Roe. The team winners were John Verretto, Harold Hartman, Ken McCarrell and Rex Woodhouse.

On Monday morning at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course Ken Givens, George Alcorn, Bill Pearson and Bill Slade won first place in the weekly Can/Am team points play with the team of Mike Mikkola, Leonard Berube, Dick Michael and a Blind Draw partner taking second place and Gerald Larrabee, Carl Johnson, Jake Fehr and Bob R.C. Powell finishing in third place. Ray Butler won the KP on the 8th hole and Marty Schwab won the KP on the 17th hole. The Deuce Pot Winners were Ken Givens, Terry Matthews, Matt Whittaker, Gordon Little, Hank Browning, Jake Fehr, Hugh Strain, Marty Schwab and Bill Dowding. The team skin winners were Gordon Little, Lynn Thompson, Tom Mozley and Ron Stirler on the 8th hole with Gerald Larrabee, Carl Johnson, Jake Fehr and Bob R.C. Powell winning on the skin on the 14th hole.

On Tuesday morning, at the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course, the Men’s Club winners were Dave Nicholls, Jimmy Stewart, Ken Schulz and Don Schoenig. The second place finishers were Brent Campbell, Barry Moore, Cliff Couse and Dean Miller with Jim Phillips, Harry Viznei, Pete Braconnier and Kevin Keating taking third place.

At the Las Barrancas Golf Course the silver league gross score winners were B.J. McKay, Steve Gartner and Hubert Gartner. The net score winners were Barry Neighbour, Steve McClure and John Gaskins. The team, winners were Dale Constantinoff, Dave Billingham, Dennis Handel and Lee Estes.

Heather Comeau was the Desert Hills Ladies “Ace of the Year” winner on Tuesday morning with Mary Schueler winning the “Ace of the Month” for January. Sun Douthit was the 1st flight gross score winner with Heather Comeau winning low net in the 1st flight. In the 2nd flight, Trish Steffey was the gross score winner and Sharren Weber won the net play. The KP winners were Lola Stone, Trish Steffey, Wendy Kennedy and Sun Douthit. The “Honey Pot” winners were Heather Comeau, Tami Harmon, Donna Lalonde, Sun Douthit, Wendy Kennedy, Mary Schueler, Carol Hindle and Karen Gallagher.

On Tuesday morning at the foothills Par 3 Golf Course the Women’s league gross score winners were Loretta Schneider, VaLoy Roe and Sally Carter. The net score winners were Charlene Krasselt, Gaye Pryse and Carol Blake.

Bob Lauer teamed with Greg Edwards, Terry Barnhart and Knute Hammer for a scrambling score of three under par 69 to win the Moose Lodge weekly play on Tuesday morning at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Second place went to the team of Tom McIntire Keith Swearinger, Joyce Martin and Clark Ziegler with a two under par 70.

On Wednesday morning, at the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course, the Mixed Doubles winners were Gizela Gillen, Rick Gillen, Richard Neff and Myra Neff. The second place team was Sid Behm, Donnis Larson, Syd Thomas and Carolyn Thomas with Phil Mapplebeck, Lorraine Farris, Bob Frost and Deb Frost in third place.

Jack Parker carried team mates Garry Sletten, Sam Boyd and Art Scott to a first place finish in the “Krogman Follies” team play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning with Reg Marshall, Bill Griffith, Rod Donner and Larry Wolcott taking second place.

On Wednesday at the Foothills Executive Golf Course the men’s league gross score winners were; David Richelderfer, Ken Sutton and Pat Dallabetta. The net score winners were Bill Taylor, Paul McLaughlin and Butch Robideau. The team winners were Warren Drake, Steve Strahm, Phil Smith and Marv Glaser.

Ann Weber was the top winner in the “Pinky’s Pick” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning with Cheryl Mikkola taking second place and Cliff Webber was third place.

At the Las Barrancas Golf Course the women’s league gross score winners were, Dorothy Gartner and Loretta Schneider. The net score winners were Laurie Russell and Marilyn Denny. The Team winners were Pauline Helm, Sue Jones, Sherry McIver and Barb Souter.

On Thursday morning, at the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course, the Ladies Club winners were Joyce Steffan, Judy Zehrung, Dorothy Crow and Mary Jo Brough. The second place finishers were Ann Nichols, Lillian Holmes, Sally Ganter and Barbara Spilchuk with Phyllis Duffy, Jo Hamar, Gail Barney and Donnis Larson were third place.

On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course the Copper League gross score winners were, Steve Gartner, Frank Russell and B.J.McKay. The net score winners were Jerry Denny, Rick McConnell and Larry Villa. The team winners were John Cullen, Larry Garrett, Al Pittman and Dave Fritz.

At the Foothills Executive Golf Course the Women’s League gross score winners were Susan Clarke, Loretta Schneider and Dawn Diamond. The net score winners were Linda Wilder, Carole Murphy and Betsy Williams. The team winners were Barb Somers, Geneil Wilson, Brenda Willick and Susan Jones.

Hole-in-one congratulation’s are extended to Tom Fowler and Gene Barterelle for their aces last week at the Las Barrancas Golf Course.

On Saturday January 19 at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, there will be a Quartz League starting at 11 a.m. Play is from the Quartz tees, and players can call or sign up in the Pro Shop at the Las Barrancas Golf Course.

Steve Martin, John Droog, Gary Young and Bob Blair were the winning team in the Mesa Del Sol MGA four man total pro points tournament on Friday morning with Matt Whittaker, Jeffery Sloboden, Dick Birkby and a blind draw partner taking second place.
