During the week of Jan. 20-26, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 312 emergency calls for service, including:

• 14 general fire response

Including: 1 for illegal trash fire in yard, fire in a scrapyard, shed fire in backyard, gas leak in a business, grill fire in a business extinguish­ed by the sprinkler system, and various alarms.

• 19 motor vehicle crashes

Including: 3 involving pedestrian­s, 2 head-on collisions, 1 involving a house, and 1 rollover.

• 254 medical emergencie­s (serious to minor)

Including: 25 for difficulty breathing, 27 for chest pain, 35 for falls, 22 for unconsciou­s people, 13 seizure cases, 5 possible stroke cases, 4 for intoxicate­d persons, 1 for person under the influence of drugs, 1 for drug overdose, 6 for people with psychiatri­c problems, 10 for medical alarms, 2 for child locked in a vehicle, 4 for allergic reactions, 13 for altered or decreased level of consciousn­ess, 3 for diabetic emergencie­s, 6 for man down calls, 1 for uncontroll­ed bleeding, 4 for bad headaches, 4 for assaults, 4 for back pain, 10 for abdominal pain, 1 pregnancy related, 1 for deceased person, 1 for laceration­s, and other illnesses and injuries.

• 9 mutual aid

Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with 8 emergency medical calls in the county and called to assist Imperial County with an emergency medical call in Winterhave­n.

• 16 special duty, public assistance, and residentia­l assignment­s

Including: 1 for power lines down, 1 for an unattended bonfire in a yard, and various alarms.
