Yuma County Road Report
South Frontage Road: Fortuna Road to Foothills Blvd. Overlay
Yuma County is constructing a new pavement overlay as well as widening segments of the South Frontage Road to provide for new turn lanes.
02/04/19 thru 02/06/19: Contractor will be working on fog seal over new Asphaltic Concrete pavement overlay along S. Frontage Road, between Scottsdale Drive and Foothills Blvd, motorists should expect short delays while work is taking place since contractor will be using a flaggers to control vehicular traffic. Use of alternate routes is recommended.
02/06/19 thru 2/08/19: Contractor will be working on grading shoulders on both sides of South Frontage Road. During this portion of the work, the contractor will maintain two-way traffic, but will reduce speed limit to channelize traffic around work zone.
FarWest Storm Drain Improvement Project
Yuma County is installing a new storm drain system to alleviate flooding at several locations in the Foothills. The contractor is currently working at the following locations: 02/04/19 thru 02/08/19: • Hunter Avenue, between Patricia Drive & Brenda Drive: Contractor will be grading roadway for new pavement. Road will be closed to thru traffic. Detour will be installed thru 34th Street.
• Hunter Avenue, between Brenda Drive & Tanja Drive: Contractor will be working on completing storm drain catch basins, Southwest Gas will be excavating along this segment of road to install a new gas line. Road will be closed to thru traffic, but detour will be provided thru Tanja Drive & 34th Street.
• Renee Avenue, between 34th Street & 36th Street: Contractor to continue grading roadway for new pavement, Renee Avenue to be opened to traffic on 02/16/19. Road will be closed to thru traffic, detour will be thru Cassidy Drive and Patricia Drive to Farwest Avenue.
• Bonnie Avenue at 36th Place: Intersection will be closed to thru traffic while the contractor is working on storm drain installation. Detour is in place around 37th Street & Hunter Avenue.
• Road Closures: Motorists can expect delays as several crews are conducting work, drivers are urged to pay close attention to work zone signs. Traffic control will be in place to detour traffic around road closures.
