During the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 2, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 302 emergency calls for service, including:
6 General Fire Responses
Including: 1 for illegal trash fire in yard, 1 for a yard fire involving a detached garage, an oven fire, a bathroom fan fire, an apartment fire started by unattended cooking, and various alarms.
2 Mutual Aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with an emergency medical call in the county and called to assist Imperial County with a fire in Winterhaven.
28 Motor Vehicle Crashes
Including: 3 involving pedestrians, 4 involving 3 or more vehicles, 1 involving a light pole, and 1 rollover.
248 Other Medical Emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 30 for difficulty breathing, 16 for chest pain, 34 for falls, 24 for unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 4 for intoxicated persons, 1 for person under the influence of drugs, 2 for drug overdoses, 12 for people with psychiatric problems, 1 for child locked in a vehicle, 2 for allergic reactions, 2 for choking, 11 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 7 for diabetic emergencies, 1 for an unknown bug bite, 6 for man down calls, 1 for uncontrolled bleeding, 1 for bad headaches, 1 for a 14 month old child who may have eaten wall spackling, 3 for assaults, 3 for back pain, 8 for abdominal pain, 2 pregnancy related, 2 for deceased person, 1 for Fentanyl withdrawals, 4 for lacerations, 1 for a tree branch that fell on someone’s head, 1 for a person hit in the head by a flag pole, 1 for a person locked in a bathroom, and other illnesses and injuries.
