ble,” senior forward Eleuterio Gutierrez said.

But Gutierrez acknowledged it wasn’t all that emotional, because the Shamrocks have their eyes on the bigger picture — and were confident that Saturday wouldn’t be their final game overall.

There’s likely still two more to go.

“I think most of them were so into the game they didn’t realize it,” YC coach Ralph Evans said. “I did have one of the seniors bring it up at the end of the game. I think it’s a good sign that they were more concentrated on the game than nostalgia.”

Six different seniors got in on the scoring for the Shamrocks (13-0 AIA), who led from the 12th minute on and 6-0 at the half.

Ernie Gutierrez had two goals (24th and 80th minutes), Eleuterio Gutierrez opened the scoring in the 12th minute when he headed in a Filiberto Quintero corner kick, Jonah Franco had a goal in the 16th minute, Junior Mendez had one in the 23rd minute, Nick Schmidt had one in the 35th minute and Orlando Ochoa had one in the 39th minute.

“I like them to spread the wealth quite a bit,” Evans said.

YC dominated every phase of Saturday’s game.

The Shamrocks totaled 42 shots, 23 of them on goal, and earned eight corner kicks. Chandler Prep (9-5 AIA), meanwhile, totaled just three shots, only two on goal (both in the second half), and earned zero corner kicks.

“I think (YC) played really, really well,” Evans said. “When I had my starters in, they obviously dominated; they controlled the ball, they communicated, they passed it well. I think they just played a really good game of soccer.”

“It was good,” Eleuterio Gutierrez said. “We started off pretty quick. I feel like if we keep this momentum, keep touching, keep talking we each other, we can make it far again.”
