Council to canvass election results
Meetings to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday
This week the Yuma City Council is expected to canvass the results of the primary election held Aug. 27. The council will meet for a work session on Tuesday and a regular meeting on Wednesday in the City Hall Council Chambers, 1 City Plaza.
The council will also consider adoption of a proposed ordinance that would add a new subsection to the Streets and Traffic Code limiting to a maximum of 8 hours the parking of service vehicles actively engaged in commercial activities in residential districts, with a continued restriction of overnight parking for large commercial vehicles.
For the Tuesday work session, which starts at 6 p.m., the council will review the agenda for regular meeting, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Kicking off the meeting will be a presentation from members of the Arizona House and Senate on the 2019 legislative session.
The consent agenda contains agreements with subrecipients of Community Development Block Grant funding totaling $102,000 in accordance with the 2019 Annual Action Plan.
The council will also consider a job order not to exceed $118,986 with JSA Company for xeriscape conversion of the Sierra Sunset I Retention Basin.
Three resolutions up for approval would authorize preannexation agreements with Adan and Irma Flores LLC for two properties located east of 1057 S. Pagent Ave.; A and I Builder LLC for two properties located east of 1047 S. Pagent Ave.; and MAHA LLC for property located at 600 S. Vaughn Ave.
Up for adoption is an ordinance that would extend by five years a license agreement with Unite Private Networks. Another proposed ordinance up for adoption would add a new subsection to the Streets and Traffic Code limiting to eight hours the parking of service vehicles engaged in commercial activities in residential districts, with a continued restriction of overnight parking for large commercial vehicles.
One ordinance will be introduced, calling for rezoning 33.38 acres located near the southeast corner of Avenue 9E and 24th Street from agriculture to low density residential.
The council will hold a public hearing, which may result in the adoption of a resolution calling for changing the land use designation from rural density residential to low density residential for property located east of the southeast corner of Avenue 8½E and 40th Street. The applicant is Riedel Construction Company.
