Man fatally shot after argument at Phoenix store parking lot

PHOENIX — Police in Phoenix say a 27-year-old man has been fatally shot after an argument at a Phoenix convenienc­e store parking lot.

Isaac Robinson got into an argument with two men and one of them shot the victim Saturday afternoon.

Both men fled the area before Robinson was taken to a hospital where police say he died of his injuries.

Car crash in Mesa leaves 1 person dead and 3 injured

MESA — Police in Mesa say they’re investigat­ing a car crash that has left one person dead and another seriously injured.

They say a passenger car with three people inside and a minivan with only a driver as an occupant collided early Sunday morning near Gilbert and McKellips roads.

Police say the minivan’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene while one person in the car was seriously injured.

Investigat­ors are trying to determine the cause of the crash.

Survey finds gain in endangered red squirrels

PHOENIX — Wildlife officials say an endangered squirrel subspecies in southeaste­rn Arizona is fighting its way back after much of its mountain habitat was burned by a 2017 wildfire.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department says the Mount Graham red squirrel’s population is stabilizin­g, with a 4% increase recorded in an annual survey that produced an estimate of 78 squirrels, up from 75 in 2018.

Diver dies at Lake Pleasant in Peoria; No signs of foul play

PEORIA — Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say a diver has died at Lake Pleasant in Peoria.

They say 55-year-old Randall Mancebo was diving with a group of 10 divers near the Lake Pleasant harbor around 8 p.m. Saturday when he began to have difficulti­es in the water.

When pulled out of the water, witnesses say Mancebo wasn’t responsive.

Sheriff’s officials say CPR efforts were made to revive Mancebo.

But they say the attempts to save Mancebo’s life were unsuccessf­ul and he died at the scene.

Sheriff’s officials say there are no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstan­ces and MCSO Lake Patrol detectives have taken over the investigat­ion.
