CITY PROJECTS 16th Street, Avenue B to Avenue C
Traffic control has been temporarily suspended on 16th Street between avenues B and C and motorists are not experiencing delays. Upon resumption of work, a contractor working for the city will make utility and roadway improvements this winter, requiring intermittent lane closures.
1st Avenue reconstruction project
The City is reconstructing 1st Avenue between 16th Street and Orange Avenue, including improvements to underground water/ sewer infrastructure, to sidewalks and driveways, and to surface pavement. 1st Avenue is currently closed between Orange Avenue/4th Street and 6th Street.
10th Avenue, 1st Street to 5th Street
10th Avenue water line replacement and street reconstruction project is reaching substantial completion. Motorists may see isolated, temporary work zones in the area.
CITY STREET MAINTENANCE
City Street Maintenance operations for week of Feb. 3-7 will take place in the following areas:
Crack Seal Operations
• Avenue 3E from 32nd Street to 24th Street
• 8th Avenue from 32nd Street to 36th Street
• 21st Drive between 32nd Street and 25th Street
Grading Operation
• County 16th Street, Avenue 1E to Avenue 3E
• Avenue 5E south of 32nd Street
Thermo Patch / Pothole Maintenance Patch potholes throughout city OTHER UTILITY PROJECTS AND ENCROACHMENT PERMITS 8th Street, Avenue C to Avenue D (Yuma County)
Yuma County is reconstructing and widening 8th Street between Avenue C and Avenue D. The work includes widening the roadway to a 5-lane section with sidewalks, streetlights and drainage improvements. On Feb. 3-4 the intersection of Avenue C and 8th Street will be closed. Monday the south leg will be closed and Tuesday the north leg will be closed. Local detour will be along Echo Avenue and Daisy Street. Through-traffic detour will be 12th Street.
Completion of the collaborative project is anticipated this winter.
4th Avenue at Catalina (Century Link)
Communication lines maintenance will require lane shifts on 4th Avenue and Catalina Drive. Lanes will be narrowed and speed limit reduced. This is part of a larger 60-day project that will wrap up in early March.
Avenue B, Claxton to 20th Street (Century Link)

24th Street, 18th Avenue to 19th Drive (SW Gas)
Southwest Gas is working on restoration from gas line service project that will require lane shifts on 24th Street between 18th Avenue and 19th Drive.
Pacific Avenue, 24th Street to Gila Ridge (Yuma County)
Yuma County will be conducting guardrail repair that will require lane shifts and reduced speed of 25 mph.
