Nominations are in for 2020 Yuma County Teacher of the Year
Educators across Yuma County have been nominated for the 2020 Teacher of the Year and Outstanding First Year Teacher awards. Hosted by the Education Foundation of Yuma County, the awards give the education community an annual opportunity to nominate their colleagues for their hard work and dedication in the classroom.
“The most rewarding part of being nominated in the Yuma County Teacher of the Year process is being recognized by the school community where one works,” said YUHSD Superintendent Gina Thompson. “These nominations are not just coming from their campus leaders, but also their peers and that is ultimately even more fulfilling.”
Co-sponsored by the Yuma Rotary Club and various local businesses, the 33rd annual Teacher of the Year and Education Awards Banquet is slated for April 21 at 6 p.m. in the Yuma Civic and Convention Center.
Starting March 3, tickets will be available for purchase through the various school offices as well as the Yuma County School Superintendent’s Office, located at 210 S. First Avenue.
