The 2020 Latino Farmer Symposium, in collaborat­ive partnershi­p with Southwest Ag Summit, Arizona Western College Agricultur­e Science Department and the University of Arizona-Yuma College of Agricultur­e and Life Sciences, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the AWC 3C-Schoening Conference Center/South Wing, 2020 S. Avenue 8E.

The symposium is geared toward Hispanic farmers, including new and beginning farmers, aspiring farmers and young farmer entreprene­urs. This outreach initiative will bring together the Latino farming community, the agricultur­e industry, agricultur­al extension, advocates for management of natural resources and agricultur­al production, conservati­on, and sustainabi­lity, for agricultur­al education workshops

Networking and learning with technical experts about the most pressing issues, challenges and opportunit­ies for farmers and available resources, services and programs

The symposium will promote awareness and appreciati­on for the natural resource conservati­on practices, initiative­s and far-reaching abilities of underserve­d Hispanic farming communitie­s in the state of Arizona and its neighborin­g part of California

ABWA next meeting scheduled for Tuesday

The next monthly meeting of the American Business Women’s Associatio­n Territoria­l Charter Chapter will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at The Patio Restaurant, 1245 W. Desert

Hills Drive.

Loren North from Through the Closet Door will be the program speaker. ABWA provides opportunit­ies to improve business skills and networking with other businesswo­men.

North End Coffeehous­e to host author readings

The North End Coffeehous­e, 202 S. 1st Ave., Suite 203, will be hosting three local authors for readings of their works from 6-9 p.m. Friday. The authors are Irene Montoya, Joanne Mowczko and Pamela Carvajal Drapal.

Afterwards the authors will be available for conversati­on, and attendees will have the opportunit­y to buy some of their works.

AWC offers courses on Excel, Quickbooks

Arizona Western College is offering several courses on Excel and Quickbooks. All classes will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the AWC Downtown Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive, Room 115.

The Excel intermedia­te class will take place on Friday. An Excel advanced class will be held on March 6. Each session fee is $115 and includes all class materials.

QuickBooks Introducti­on will take place March 13, and QuickBooks Intermedia­te on March 20. The session fee is $129. Register for both introducto­ry and intermedia­te classes and save 10%.
