“The Karate Kid” (AMC, Sunday, April 18): The streaming series “Cobra Kai” had a good run, and this 1984 movie inspired it. Ralph Macchio plays Daniel, a newly relocated teen who becomes a target of school bullies almost immediately; since many of them know martial arts, he decides to meet them on their own turf, learning physical defense from wise handyman Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki “Pat” Morita).

“Hart to Hart” (getTV, Friday, April 23): For those who really know their movies – especially classic Saturdayafternoon serials – there’s a terrific inside joke in the episode “Harts on Campus,” which takes Jennifer (Stefanie Powers) to a class reunion. One of her former classmates, played by guest star Kip Niven, is named Ford Beebe ... which happens to have been the name of a writer-director who worked on such franchises as “Flash Gordon,” “Buck Rogers” and “Tarzan.”

“Rear Window” (Turner Classic Movies, Friday, April 23): When the best of the best of Alfred Hitchcock is considered, this 1954 tale generally is included. The director’s knack for adding whimsy to suspense is captured in James Stewart’s performance as a photographer sidelined by a broken leg ... giving him a prime window view of a neighbor (Raymond Burr) who may have committed a murder. Then-princess-to-be Grace Kelly is a complete charmer as Stewart’s girlfriend.

“Lost in Space” (MeTV, Saturday, April 24): The nextto-last episode of the original series, “The Great Vegetable Rebellion” is that sort of kitschy television that defines the phrase “You had to be there.” The enemy of the space travelers is a giant carrot – yes, you read that correctly – and it’s been said that the regular cast members barely could stop laughing while filming the story. That did not please producer Irwin Allen, since it lengthened the tight shooting schedule.
