Sunday July 4 INDEPENDEN­CE DAY FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

WHEN: 7:30 a.m.

WHERE: Yuma Armed Forces Park, 291 S. Gila St.

GOING ON: Join the Caballeros de Yuma as they celebrate Independen­ce Day by honoring our Armed Forces. The keynote speaker will be Col. McFall, commander at Yuma Proving Ground. As part of the ceremony, and in partnershi­p with the Yuma Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs committee, individual Soldiers and Marines are recognized for their achievemen­ts during the year.

Saturday July 17 DRIVE-THRU BACK TO SCHOOL RODEO

WHEN: 8 a.m.-noon

WHERE: The Yuma Civic Center

GOING ON: The Back to School Rodeo is a family-friendly event providing the necessary school supplies kids need! The event is a drive thru where parents pull up to the front of the Yuma Civic Center and receive a backpack packed with school supplies. The first 1,800 children will receive a FREE synch style backpack filled with school supplies! (The child must be present).
