3 of 4 men injured in Chandler explosion now out of hospital

CHANDLER — Three of the four men who suffered serious burn injuries in an explosion at a Chandler printing shop last month are out of the hospital now.

A fundraiser was held Saturday for two injured brothers who own Platinum Printing — 29-year-old Dillion Ryan and 39-yearold Andrew Ryan — plus 29-year-old employee Parker Milldebrandt.

Authorities say 58-yearold Glenn Jordan was inside an eyeglass repair business next to the print shop and also was injured in the Aug. 26 explosion.

Phoenix TV station KPHO reported Sunday that Jordan still is hospitalized but is off a ventilator.

The four victims suffered second-degree burns to their hands, arms and legs and doctors say the men face a long road to recovery.

Federal investigators determined that the explosion was caused by an unintentional natural gas leak ignited by an independent ignition source.

Maricopa County attorney: Returning to work after treatment

PHOENIX — Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel plans to return to work Monday after getting treatment for nearly three weeks for anxiety as well as an eating disorder and alcohol use.

Adel said in a statement Friday that she had returned home and would continue to make her recovery a priority but had been cleared by her medical team to return to work.

Adel added that she received an “outpouring of support” and that her experiences had reaffirmed what she called her “commitment to a treatment first approach to prosecution.”

Adel required surgery on the night of the 2020 general election for a head injury from a fall that she told the Arizona Republic occurred previously when she tripped on power cords.

The county’s top prosecutor and chief legal officer, Adel was appointed to her post in 2019 and elected last year to a four-year term.

She told the Republic she was physically and psychologically ready to return to work.

“It’s part of making me whole. I’m elected and I’m elected to serve the people.”

Adel, a Republican, didn’t disclose her absence from her office until county Sheriff Paul Penzone, a Democrat, learned she was trying to run her office remotely while in recovery.

Police shoot domestic violence suspect in Phoenix suburb

PHOENIX — Chandler Police say they shot an armed man Friday morning in a hotel parking lot following a report of a suspicious person. The incident is now being investigated as a domestic violence case.

Police in the Phoenix suburb said a person called police saying that a woman was asking for help. A Chandler Police spokesman said two officers found the armed man in the parking lot and he “displayed” a gun. The officers interpreted that as a threat and shot at him, the spokesman said. It’s unclear how many of the bullets struck the man.

The man is being treated in a local hospital, police said. No one else was reported harmed in the shooting outside the hotel, which is also near a large shopping mall.
