Pen-pricks
• Bartender’s Guide reported that Cinco de Mayo is the second biggest beer-selling day in America behind July Fourth. The holiday celebrates the Mexican army battle victory over the French army in 1867 that sent France packing from Mexico. Ah the French, everybody’s favorite homecoming opponent.
• The Supreme Court leak over Roe vs. Wade deliberations placed the issue of childbirth front and center. It so happens that the young couple next door to me in West Hollywood will soon have a baby, but they don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl. They’ve decided to wait and let the kindergarten teacher decide. • White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki downplayed the Supreme Court leak and issued support for the original 1973 decision. There’s no outrage at the top. When President Biden was asked about the Row vs. Wade decision Joe said migrants are welcome to cross the Rio Grande either way.
• Senate Democrats erupted over the chance that Roe vs. Wade could be overturned Tuesday. And thanks to Apple’s new Emoji illustrating a man who is pregnant, the number of pro-choice advocates just doubled. I’m just joking of course, if men could get pregnant there’d be abortion vending machines.
