Butch was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Susan and Sylvia; and two stepdaught­ers, Patsy and Donna.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton, IL. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Roger Carlson officiatin­g. Burial will conclude at Fulton Cemetery with military honors.

Survivors include one daughter, Tammy Wallace, of Fulton; two sons, Richard Hammond (Mary Jackson), of Maquoketa, IA, and James Hammond (Lisa Wilden), of Coralville, IA; three stepdaught­ers, Patsy (Jack) Wright, Donna Remey, all of Mt. Morris, and Beth (Danny) VanKampen, of Fulton; three sisters, Janice (Bill) Graham, of Fenton, Mary Duncan, and Cheryl (Marty) Hoffman, all of Fulton; one brother, Steve (Laurie) Hammond, of Clinton, IA; seven grandchild­ren, Cody (Adny) Rose, of Thomson, David (Angela) Wallace Jr., Devin (Lindsay) Wallace, all of Clinton, IA, Cassandra Hammond, of Camanche, IA, Jesse Hammond (Hope White), Jimmy (Lexie) Hammond, and Seth Hammond, all of Clinton, IA; and fourteen great-grandchild­ren, Summer Jacobs, Liam Jacobs, Kenna Wolf, Paizlye Hammond, Lincoln Hammond, Kyler Wallace, Eric Berry, Alex Wallace, Annabelle Rose, Adalena Rose, Zekie Rose, Carter Rose, Kaiden Rose, and Joe Wallace.

He was employed with John Deere in East Moline for 33 years until retirement. He married Susan Stevenson in 1963 in Clinton, IA. He later married Sylvia Remery in Morrison. Butch was a lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of the Morrison and Yuma, AZ shooting range. He loved to ride his Harley and travel. Butch became a snowbird, residing in Yuma, AZ through the winter months for 20 years. David "Butch" R. Hammond, 82, of Fulton, passed away in his home with his family on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Butch was born on September 12, 1940 in Savanna, to Dave and Helen (Murphy) Hammond.
