Panthers hire Evero as new defensive coordinato­r

CHARLOTTE, n.c. – The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with ejiro evero on Sunday to be their new defensive coordinato­r.

The 42-year-old evero was the denver broncos defensive coordinato­r last season and was one of nine candidates to interview for the Panthers head coaching position before owner david Tepper hired Frank reich.

The broncos ranked seventh in the league in total defense in 2022 under evero and were 14th in points allowed. evero previously worked as the broncos secondary coach before being promoted to coordinato­r.

He has also experience coaching with the Los angeles rams, Green bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa bay buccaneers.

Steve Wilks was Carolina’s defensive coordinato­r to start the 2022 season, but was later promoted to interim head coach after Matt rhule was fired. al Holcomb took over as interim defensive coordinato­r and remained in that role for the rest of the season.

Reese scores 33, No. 22 Arizona tops USC in 2OT

LOS angeles – Charisma osborne had 23 points, Londynn Jones added 20 off the bench, and no. 14 ucla pulled away in the second half, defeating arizona State 82-63 on Sunday to snap a three-game losing streak.

osborne made 7-of-15 shots, including 4-of-7 3-pointers, and was 5 of 5 from the free-throw line. She added five rebounds and four assists. Jones shot 5 for 8, made 4 of 6 3-pointers, and was perfect in five free-throw attempts for the third 20-point game of her freshman season.

Martínez scores again as Inter beats Milan in Serie A derby

MILAN – World Cup winner Lautaro Martínez continued his roaring start to the year as he set Inter Milan on its way to a 1-0 victory over ac Milan in the derby della Madonnina on Sunday.

Martínez has been in fantastic form since helping argentina win the World Cup in december and he netted his seventh goal in his last eight matches as Inter consolidat­ed second spot in Serie a with a second win over its fierce rival in less than three weeks.

“as soon as the World Cup was over I said that winning it had fired me up,” Martínez said. “It’s the best present that I have ever received, I learnt a lot and I’m trying to put all that on the field.”

It was Martínez’s 12th league goal of the season, putting him four behind leading Serie a goalscorer Victor osimhen, who scored another two on Sunday to help runaway leader napoli win 3-0 at lowly Spezia.
