Man, 4 children die in a fire at a northwest Phoenix condo

PHOENIX — Two more children have died from their injuries suffered in a northwest Phoenix condominiu­m fire, according to authoritie­s.

Phoenix Fire Department officials announced Saturday night that 11-year-old Tamar Boyer and 9-yearold Shevach Boyer had died at a hospital. They said two siblings — identified as 7-year-old Dov Boyer and 8-year-old Nachman Boyer — died from injuries after the fire late Wednesday night that also claimed the life of 52-year-old Shimone Boyer.

Authorties said Shimone Boyer was the father of the three boys and one girl who died. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire. Phoenix police said three of the four children had disabiliti­es.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet, but authoritie­s said there’s no indication that the blaze was intentiona­lly started. Fire officials also said that no smoke detectors were found inside the condo.

Woman killed, 3 men injured in UTV crash in Apache Junction

APACHE JUNCTION — A 26-yearold woman has died after a utility terrain vehicle crash in Apache Junction early Sunday morning, authoritie­s said.

The name, age and hometown of the woman who died wasn’t immediatel­y released. Apache Junction police said three men were also hurt in the UTV crash, but have injuries that are not considered life threatenin­g.

According to police, intoxicati­on was a factor in the crash and their investigat­ion was ongoing.

Man charged with blowing up PG&E transforme­rs in California

SAN JOSE, Calif. — A 36-year-old man has been charged with blowing up two Pacific Gas & Electric transforme­rs, causing blasts that knocked out power to thousands of utility customers in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Peter Karasev’s was arrested last Wednesday after investigat­ors used surveillan­ce camera footage and cell phone tracking to link him to the explosions in December and January, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Authoritie­s on Friday searched Karasev’s home and turned up explosive materials along with an “inactive” meth lab, police said.

No injuries were reported in the blasts on Dec. 8 and Jan. 5 that damaged two PG&E transforme­rs, KGOTV reported. Karasev faces multiple charges including arson, exploding a destructiv­e device, destroying an electrical line and possessing materials with the intent to create a destructiv­e device, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office said.
