Individual ncaa champion Fred Biondi beat hiroshi Tai 1 up with a par on the 18th hole and Florida won its fifth men’s national golf title with a 3-1 victory over Georgia Tech at Grayhawk Golf Club.
“These guys are extremely tough and that’s what champions are,” Florida coach J.C. deacon said. “They find a way to stay positive and to stay in the moment and keep doing the right things.”
Florida appeared to headed toward defeat against Florida state on Tuesday in the semifinals, only to rally for a 3-2 victory.

The sec remained undecided on increasing the number of conference games it plays in 2024 from eight to nine, with some athletic directors saying they would like more time and information.
“That’s an interesting way for them to communicate their perspective,” Commissioner Greg sankey said.
sankey reiterated that among the options under consideration is a short-term agreement to stay at an eight-game conference schedule, with a commitment to reconsidering the model in the next year or so.
Cincinnati baseball coach Scott Googins resigns 2 weeks after staffers fired amid NCAA investigation
CINCINNATI — Cincinnati baseball coach scott Googins resigned Wednesday, two weeks after two members of his staff were dismissed following an investigation into possible ncaa violations.
Googins was 143-156 in six seasons with the Bearcats, including one american athletic Conference title and an ncaa Tournament appearance in 2019.
“I want to thank Coach Googins for his time and commitment to the Bearcats,” Cincinnati athletic director John Cunningham said in a statement.
The Bearcats finished 24-33 this season.
Last week, Cincinnati announced assistant coach Kyle sprague and director of operations andy nagel were relieved of their duties on May 17, about a week after the school opened an investigation into possible ncaa violations.
