BY YUMA COUNTY North Frontage Road from Avenue 10E to Fortuna Road Reconstruction

Yuma county will reconstruct north Frontage road to a 3-lane road with curb, sidewalk and bicycle lanes from avenue 10E to Fortuna road. In addition, a storm drain system will be installed to direct storm water runoff to two retention basins. construction began in July 2023. north Frontage road is expected to remain open for most of the construction, although road closures will be scheduled for certain portions of the work.

Vehicular traffic will shifted to new pavement surface on north side of roadway. contractor will commence storm drain work on south side of n. Frontage road.

Road Closures:

avenida compadres will be closed to thru traffic. Emergency access and access to local traffic to be provided at all times by contractor.

LOS AMIGOS AND SOUTHERN SANDS DRAINAGE AND PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS

This project will include a new storm drain system along avenida compadres and valley gutters in Los amigos. all roads in the Southern Sands & Los amigos Subdivisions will have the existing surfacing removed and new aggregate base course and new asphaltic concrete Pavement installed along with some miscellaneous items.

contractor is expected to commence work in Los amigos, Southern Sands and avenida compadres the week of 03/11/24. For the first portion of the work contractor will be installing storm drain along avenida compadres, grading side streets at Los amigos and completing concrete valley gutters.

RED CLOUD MINE ROAD

roadway improvements begin at martinez Lake road and extend northeast 2.1 miles to Snipe road. From Snipe road a new alignment roadway was constructed for 1.1 miles to connect to Wildlife Way. The length of the project is 3.2 miles. road improvements include grading, paving, drainage improvements (box culverts), and smoothing out the vertical alignment to improve safety and provide all weather access.

This project is complete except for one-half mile section, which was not constructed in accordance with the specifications. The Federal highway administration (Fhwa) has engaged a contractor to make the required repairs to the pavement structure. The project will also include steel plates on the cattle guards to reduce vibrations and noise. It is anticipated the contractor will start work in march 2024.
