- BY NICK FENLEY Sun STAFF WRITER

This Saturday, Red Bull is hittin’ the Imperial Sand Dunes in Glamis to kick off the 2024 Sand Scramble race.

Lasting from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the event will feature a 2.8-mile racecourse and allow both experienced racers and amateur off-roaders to participate in separate classes (SXS Pro and SXS Sportsman, respectively).

Notably, Arizona-born Red Bull racer Mia Chapman and Red Bull Off-road Junior Team members Seth Quintero and Mitch Gunthrie Jr., the latter of whom won in the 2021 Red Bull Sand Scramble Pro Class race, will be among the professionals in attendance.

Along with the off-road racing festivities, the event will highlight last year’s winners with a ceremony.

It’s important to add that, after kicking off with the Sand Scramble, the 2024 event series will continue with an additional four races across the United States.

“I’m very excited for the Red Bull Sand Scramble. It’s always a race I look forward to and I’d say definitely one of the more challenging races on the schedule for this season,” Mia Chapman said in a statement. “Racing through the sand dunes with 50+ cars around you is surreal, and with there being so many different lines to take, finding that fast line quick is the key. After winning the Red Bull Scramble Series Pro UTV Class Championship in 2023, I’m definitely heading into this year to defend the title, so I’m looking forward to getting after it this weekend.”
