El Golfo had a safe holiday week, mayor says

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Son. – The coordinati­on of law enforcemen­t agencies from the three levels of government resulted in a clean record during the Holy Week festivitie­s in El Golfo de Santa Clara.

This was announced in a statement by interim Mayor Manuel Arvizu Freaner, who thanked the good dispositio­n of the citizens, which greatly contribute­d to achieving this outcome.

“We supported with all the security conditions and public services so that families from San Luis and neighborin­g states could feel safe and comfortabl­e during these holy days,” he said.

During the holiday from March 28 to 31, there were four traffic accidents resulting in one injury, eight arrests for administra­tive offenses, 14 traffic violations, four impounded vehicles, a recovery of stolen items, and assistance to two minors: one for a stingray sting and another for choking (both were safe).

In the road security operation, 36 infraction­s were applied, mostly for driving under the influence and for alcohol breath, three were detained for administra­tive offenses, and eight vehicles were impounded.

Although the number of visitors received by El Golfo de Santa Clara during the holiday period was not disclosed, in the statement, the interim mayor stated that the flow of vacationer­s was constant in both incoming and outgoing traffic, with Saturday being the day of the highest influx. He also noted that hotels in the town were fully occupied.

“The important thing is that we achieved a clean record, provided security to families, and offered the necessary public services, both in the town and on the roads,” he concluded.
