Reed Hardt Kempton

-

May 27, 1943 - March 30, 2024

Reed Hardt Kempton, age 80, of Yuma, Arizona left us to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 in Yuma, Arizona.

Reed was born May 27 , 1943 in Eden, Arizona to Grant and Ruby Kempton and attended school in Eloy, Arizona, where he graduated high school and then moved to Somerton, Arizona. Reed also served our community by holding the office of Mayor of Somerton.

On May 28th 2011, Reed married Diane Kempton, in the San Diego Temple. They were blissfully married for 14 years and and enjoyed being in each other's company as they found retirement rewarding together.

Reed was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was very active with his woodworking crafts. Reed had a passion to create things out of wood and we all have one of his pens, bowls, or stands that he gifted. This craft kept him busy after retiring from Yuco Gin. As an avid gardener, Reed loved to be outdoors whether it was fishing, golfing, or gardening. He found it relaxing to "tinker" around with things. He found pleasure in watching the hummingbirds and listening to his classic country music.

Reed was very active with his Church and found pleasure in helping others when they were in need of assistance. He was a very giving man, a gentle giant, and his quick witted humor always made us laugh and smile.

Reed follows his parents, Grant and Ruby Kempton; his brother, Hinton Kempton; and his first wife, Shelda Kempton in death.

Reed was survived by his wife, Diane Kempton; sisters, Peggy Doemelt, Shirley Rosbach; children, Chris (Silvia) Kempton, Carol (Jeffery) Utton, Nancy Vega, Cole Hunt; grandchildren, Kyle Kempton, Breanna (Randal)wilkins, Jessica and Ashley Utton, Zakkary Vega, Jackson and Carson Ordonez; great grandchildren, Mia and Aria Wilkins; nephews and nieces, Kenneth(deanna) Kempton, Debbie (Mel) Bartel, Max (Cammy)kempton, Nicki (Jim) Whitehead, Mark Rosbach, Paige Garza, Brad (Jolynn) Rosbach, Vikki (Greg) Redmon, Kathy (Chuck) Ray, Lisa (Michael) Schools, Michael Goodson, Brad and Bucky Robach.
