Thursday April 11 VILLAGE JAZZ SERIES – YUMA BIG BAND

WHERE: Village Area of Yuma Palms Regional Center (in front of Harkins) GOING ON: The Village Jazz Series – free concerts every Thursday evening. This week, the Yuma

SHINE ON FLOYD – PINK FLOYD TRIBUTE BAND

WHEN: 7-9:30 p.m.

WHERE: Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 S. Main St., Yuma

GOING ON: Back by popular demand! Shine On Floyd returns to the beautiful Historic Yuma Theater on April 11. This is a full stage show with backup singers, circle video screen, laser light show, special effects and more. You will be immersed in all things Pink Floyd including the major hits from The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and Momentary Lapse of Reason – sung and played note-for-note. Shine On Floyd is one of the best Pink Floyd tributes in the country.

Friday April 12 AMAZING RACE YUMA COUNTY

WHEN: 12-7 p.m.

WHERE: Various locations around Yuma County

GOING ON: Looking for something different to do? Grab 3 friends or coworkers to complete in the Amazing Race! Teams will visit businesses around Yuma County completing mental or lightly physical challenges. Teams will be provided with an initial starting point and registrati­on time. There will be staggered starting times at set intervals based on the number of teams entered. The team’s starting time will be noted as the winner will be based on actual time plus penalties from their start to finish rather than who finishes first. All racers are invited to the post-race reception being held at Julieanna’s Steak & Seafood by Chef Eddie Guzman that evening.

Saturday April 13 WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD

WHEN: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

WHERE: South Lawn of Heritage Library, 350 S. 3rd Ave, Yuma

GOING ON: Local early education programs and community agencies will be providing a variety of “hands on, make ‘n take art projects” for children to do. Families will also have opportunit­ies to learn about available resources in the community. There is no cost to participat­e in these early education activities that celebrate children and their families.

CITY OF YUMA 110 YEAR CELEBRATIO­N

WHEN: 12-6 p.m.

WHERE: Historic Downtown Main Street, Yuma

GOING ON: Mayor Nicholls will provide opening remarks. The event will include a presentati­on of colors by the Yuma Police Department, followed by the national anthem as performed by longtime Yuma vocalist Wendy Lobeck Mckay.

Yuma officially became a city on

April 7, 1914. This will be the first official city birthday party since the weeklong-plus centennial celebratio­n in 2014. There will be dance performanc­es, a Kids Zone and activities by the Yuma Police and Fire Department­s.
