Clark, Reese headline list of 15 players invited to WNBA draft
NEW york — Caitlin Clark and angel reese headline a list of 15 college players who have been invited to the WNBA draft on Monday, the league announced Thursday.
Clark, who is the career leading scorer in division i men’s and women’s basketball, is expected to go first to the indiana Fever. it’s the second consecutive year that the Fever have the top pick.
“There’s a tremendous amount of excitement now with having back-to-back picks,” indiana GM lin dunn said. “and i think, you’ve seen a great deal of interest in ticket sales around this pick, and i think we’re all excited about adding another top pick to this young team. So is there a lot going on? is there a lot of noise? is there a lot of excitement? absolutely.”
Kansas City Chiefs’ Rashee Rice surrenders to police on assault charge after highspeed crash
GLENN HEIGHTS, Texas. — Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver rashee rice surrendered to police Thursday on charges including aggravated assault after he and another driver of a speeding sports car allegedly caused a crash involving a half-dozen vehicles on a dallas highway last month.
a spokeswoman for rice’s attorney confirmed to The associated press that rice turned himself in at the Glenn Heights police department. rice is being represented by Texas state Sen. royce West.
rice was booked into the regional Jail in desoto, and West said he was released on bond Thursday night.
N.Y. officials approve $780M soccer stadium for NYCFC to be built next to Mets’ home
NEW york — New york City officials approved a plan Thursday to build a 25,000-seat stadium for Major league Soccer’s New york City Football Club next to the New york Mets’ stadium, Citi Field.
The $780 million soccer stadium, expected to open in 2027, will anchor a 23-acre (9-hectare) redevelopment project in the Willets point neighborhood that will also include housing, a new public school, retail stores and a hotel.
