Crane governing board meeting at a glance
The governing board representing the Crane Elementary School District held its monthly meeting on April 9. Here’s a look at what occurred.
Presentation about Zonar Myview
Early in the meeting, Director of Transportation Gabby Kuzniak took the floor to deliver a presentation on Zonar
Myview, which is a software that allows parents to track school buses and their children.
The project began in 2023 and included students scanning ID passes upon boarding and exiting the school bus, and the next step is to roll out an app that lets parents receive notifications.
“The reason why we did this is for accountability and reporting purposes as well. We’ve been able to help a few parents since the start of this tracking software to find their child,” Kuzniak said during the meeting, noting that it allows parents to know exactly when the child boarded and how far the bus is from the drop-off site.
Following Kuzniak’s presentation, President Audrey Garcia remarked, “As a parent, I’m very excited.”
Pueblo Elementary School performance
Pueblo Elementary School Principal Bobbie Henry and teacher Alizabeth Caro then discussed the school’s musical theatre program, which is presenting Beauty and the Beast this year. Students also took the floor to act out a portion of the play for the governing board.
Superintendent’s Report
During Superintendent Laurie Doering’s summary of current events, she highlighted Crane students’ performance at the Southern Arizona Research, Science, and Engineering Fair (SARSEF) and the 2024 MATHCOUNTS Competition.
The winners of the 2024 National Civics Bee, who all hailed from Crane Middle School, were praised as well.
