October 7, 1975 - April 18, 2024

Joe Allen Friar, born on October 7, 1975 in Huntington Park, California, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends. He was the beloved son of Floyd and Debbie Friar and a cherished member of his family and community.

Joe's life was characterized by his unwavering love for his two amazing kids, Clayton and Morgan. Being a dad was his greatest accomplishment, and his devotion to his children was evident in everything he did.

Joe earned a bachelor's degree from Northern Arizona University in secondary education. Professionally, Joe worked at Compass Systems, Inc. in Yuma, Arizona, as a technical writer. But beyond his career, Joe found true fulfillment in his passion for coaching baseball. He dedicated himself to nurturing young talent, coaching numerous teams in Yuma, including many of his son's and nephews' teams. He coached at Yuma High School, Camp Verde High School and was an assistant coach at Yuma Catholic. A proud Yuma High Criminal, Joe eagerly anticipated the alumni baseball game each year to reconnect with his fellow players and relive fond memories.

Joe's love for baseball extended beyond supporting local teams; he was a dedicated fan of the San Diego Padres. Yet, his passion for the sport went far beyond rooting for his home team. One of his favorite hobbies was traveling to baseball stadiums across the country, and he cherished these adventures, especially when shared with his kids.

Joe's skills as a mechanic, learned from his father, were exemplary. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He took immense pride in the restoration of a 1964 Chevy pickup, a project he completed alongside his dad, forging lasting memories and bonds in the process. He has since passed this skill down to his son, Clay.

An avid music enthusiast, Joe was the family DJ, sharing his love for good ol' country music with those around him. He especially enjoyed attending concerts, often with his kids, creating cherished moments filled with music and joy.

In addition to his loving parents, Joe leaves behind his brother, Brian (Jenny) Friar, and sister, Jamie (Jesse) Haines, along with five nieces and nephews, Trent, Lacy, Brady Friar, and Taylor and Jack Haines; and his best friend, Laurie Baker.

Joe is preceded in death by his grandparents, Forrest and Dolores Slaughter and Floyd and Marion Friar.
