Michael George Kennedy

Michael George Kennedy, age 68, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away on March 5, 2024. He was born on February 14, 1956, in St. John, Kansas, to the late Greta Majors and George Kennedy.
Michael graduated in 1981 with a Master's Degree in
Social Work from University of Kansas, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He dedicated his life to the behavioral health field in Yuma for over four decades, culminating in his role as the Behavioral Health Clinical Director at Regional Center for Border Health. His passion for helping others and advocating for mental health made a lasting impact on the community.
Outside of his career, Michael was known for his sense of humor, compassion, and love for animals. He cherished spending time with his family, especially sharing meals and celebrating special moments together.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Kari Mccain; his son, Taylor Kennedy and daughter-in-law Stacy Kennedy; stepdaughter, Aja Backs and son-inlaw Shawn Backs; stepdaughter, Elske Mccain, and grandchildren: Lexi, Angel, Jose, Penelope, Ellinor, Mathilde, Adam, and Dahlia.
A celebration to honor Michael's life will be held on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at 5:00 pm at the Regional Center for Border Health San Luis Medical Mall Conference Center - 151 S. Oak Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Amberly's Place in his memory.
Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
