La Verne Boskovich

-

A few years later La Verne and her sister Evelyn left Granite Station to live with their father in Winterhaven, CA. They attended Bard Elementary School and graduated from Yuma Union High School. The day after graduation La Verne married the love of her life, George Boskovich. She also graduated from AWC and ASU to earn a teaching degree. She taught at Price School for her complete career.

She was also an artist. Her specialty was painting desert scenes and trees. Other interests included interior design, antique collecting, gardening, canning peaches and plumbs and studying art history. She was extremely energetic and she put that energy to good use!

La Verne was religious, and she felt a close bond with God and the angels. She had a strong and abiding faith in life hereafter, But She hated mice with an equal passion! When she was reminded that God created mice and he loved all of his creations, so we should too, she replied with language that is certainly not appropriate for a family newspaper!

She has many times said how much she loved her life. She loved the farm, the Bard community, and everyone in it. That is why she had insisted that her memorial be a happy one. It should be a true Celebration of Life, no talk of sadness, no talk of funeral subjects, no funeral clothes, nothing negative. She wants everyone to celebrate her life as well as their own. She asks that everyone think of a fun story from their own lives to share with the group. Stories about how living in Bard (and Yuma) has been good for them. Its all good, all part of Gods design, so share!

Thanks Mom, we love you. Its been quite the ride! Peace and love to you in your next adventure. Sharon

Memorial- Celebration of Life will be held at Bard Community Building on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 am.
