‘Ride the Cyclone’
AWC Theatre and Yuma Community Theater present a production of the popular musical May 2-5
What happens when six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir climb aboard a doomed roller coaster that spirals into a musical game of life or death with a mechanical fortune teller?
From Thursday, May 2nd, through Sunday, May 5th, Arizona Western College (AWC) Theatre and Yuma Community Theater (YCT) are collaborating to perform all that and more in a production of the popular musical “Ride the Cyclone.”
“We have been wanting to collaborate on a production with YCT for a long time, but finding a mutually available time slot has been tough. We are so excited that the opportunity finally arose and we can make it happen this spring,” said Ann Wilkinson, AWC Professor of Theatre in an AWC press release promoting the show. “Not only do AWC students get a chance to work with a YCT director, who is new to many of them, and be exposed to Yuma’s Community Theatre opportunities; YCT folks get a chance to work in our space and create connections with actors for their future productions.”
In a press release, Daniela Ayala, YCT board president, noted, “YCT is proud to collaborate with AWC Theatre and use this as an opportunity to support students and be a part of their educational journey.”
“Ride the Cyclone” will be performed at the AWC Theatre Building (Yuma Campus), 2020 S. Avenue 8E.
Showtimes will be at 7:30-9 p.m. The closing performance on Sunday, May 5th, will be at 2:30-4 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased online (https://www.yctaz.org/rtc), or at the door. Tickets are $5 for AWC students who bring their student ID, $10 for non-awc students who bring a different student ID, and $20 for general admission.
“Ride the Cyclone” is rated PG13.
