CITY ROAD REPORT
A weekly summary of City projects or encroachment permits issued by the City of Yuma affecting busy streets.
North End pavement replacement project
A contractor working for the City will remove and replace street pavement, water lines, and Ada-standard sidewalk ramps on various streets in northern Yuma, roughly between Avenue A and 4th Avenue. Most of the major street reconstruction work is complete; however, work crews will continue to operate in isolated areas. Currently the contractor is raising utility accesses to grade level. The overall project is expected to conclude in summer 2024.
Avenue B, 16th Street to 24th Street
Work is expected begin in June on pavement replacement of Avenue B between 16th Street and 24th Street. The project involves removal and replacement of existing asphalt concrete on the road surface, plus improvements to water services, sidewalks, ramps, curbs and gutters, and storm drainage facilities at various locations along this road. Avenue 5E, 37th Street to 40th Street
A contractor working for the City is installing water and sewer lines on Avenue 5E between 37th Street and 40th Street, plus new re hydrants and new service connections, followed by pavement replacement. Avenue 5E will be closed to through traf c between 32nd Street and 40th Street, and to all traf c between 37th Street and 40th Street. Detour using Avenue 4E or Avenue 6E. This project is expected to be complete by late May.
45th Avenue, 24th Street to 28th Street
A contractor working for the City will construct a multi-use path along 45th Avenue between 24th Street and 28th Street. Most work will occur off the roadway; however, one phase of the project will prompt a closure of 45th Avenue between 24th Street and 26th Street. The project is expected to run through mid-april.
28th Drive, 31st Street to 29th Place
28th Drive traf c is restricted to northbound only between 31st Street and 29th Place for emergency storm drain repair.
Spring pavement preservation
Spring surface treatments are expected to run through the end of April. Impacted neighborhood property owners will receive a door hanger that indicates the area where the roadway maintenance is taking place as well as the dates and times. May 6, 24th St: Oil Seal
24th Street will be closed to all traf c from Avenue C to 45th Way. Residents in Falls Ranch 6 should use 22nd Lane off of Avenue C, while residents in Falls Ranch 7 will need to detour using Avenue D and either 20th Street or 28th Street.. Residents in Park West can use 25th Lane off of Avenue C.
May 7, 31st Avenue and Yuma Valley Park
31st Avenue will be closed from 24th Street to the north end entrance to Yuma Valley Park. The entrance to Yuma Valley Park will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

OTHER UTILITY PROJECTS AND ENCROACHMENT PERMITS Smucker Park Basin Project: Avenue A, Parkview to 28th Street; East Main Canal Pathway, 24th Street to 32nd Street(yuma County)
A contractor working for Yuma County is working on the Smucker Park ood control basin, which will at times affect Avenue A between Parkview Loop and 28th Street. The sidewalk on the west side of Avenue A is closed. Motorists on Avenue A should be aware of trucks entering and exiting the roadway on the north side of the park. Later phases of work will include lane Westridge, restrictions on Avenue A and a closure at anticipated for early 2024. Message boards will be activated 72 hours prior to any such closure. Due to a de-watering operation for this project, the East Main Canal Pathway is closed between 24th Street and 32nd Street, east side. No timetable is currently set for completion of this operation.
Fiber optic installations (Allo)
Communications line installations will take place in areas designated for utility easements within the City limits and surrounding vicinity in the following areas: • Avenue B, 8th Street to 3rd Street • Area between Avenue B and 15th Avenue, from West Main Canal to 8th Street • Area between 1st Street and Giss Parkway, 4th Avenue to Gila Street • Area between 12th Street to 14th Street, Pageant Avenue to 44th Avenue • 24th Street and Kennedy Lane • Areas surrounding 8th Street to 47th Drive, including Donovan Estates • 32nd Street between avenues 6E and 8E • Avenue C and 16th Street • Gila Ridge Road, east toward Avenue 6E • Area between 2nd Street and 6th Street, Magnolia to 13th Avenue • Area between 16th Street and 20th Street, from Avenue A to 5th Avenue • 3rd Street west of 15th Avenue • Arizona Avenue, 18th Street to 19th Street • 1st Avenue and 8th Street • Castle Dome Avenue north of 16th Street • 13th Street, Santa Maria Way
Maiden Lane, 1st Street to 2nd Street (Yuma County)
Installation of a construction crane will prompt the closure of Maiden Lane between 1st Street and 2nd Street.
Avenue B, 15th Street (Century Link)
Century Link has a 60-day project that will include a closure of the right southbound lane of Avenue B approaching 15th Street. Work is expected to conclude in late June.
Riley Avenue, 17th Street to 18th Street
Riley Avenue is currently closed between 17th Street and 18th Street for construction work.
40th Street/ County 12th Street, Avenue 5E (APS)
APS pole and line work will require lane closures at 40th Street/county 12th Street at Avenue 5E the week of April 29 through May 3. Traf c will be regulated by ag persons.
Arizona Avenue, 25th Street (SW Gas)
Gas valve maintenance work will require a 15-day lane restriction on Arizona Avenue at 25th Street. Work should conclude by June 5.
Arizona Avenue, 17th Street to 24th Street (MRM)
May 6 through May 17, a contractor work in the center lane of Arizona Avenue between 17th Street and 24th Street to assess depth of underground utilities.
4th Avenue, 22nd Street (Century Link)
Century Link will be working in southbound 4th Avenue at 22nd Street May 8-22, requiring a right lane closure.
24th Street, Industrial Avenue
Through May 20, westbound 24th Street will be reduced to one lane of traf c at Industrial Avenue for sidewalk installation.
28th Street, Fern Drive (SW Gas)
As part of a 90-day gas line replacement project in the area, Southwest Gas will close 28th Street between Fern Drive and Del Valle Drive May 7-10. Through traf c between 8th Avenue and Avenue A should detour using 24th Street.
