Justine Antonia Murphy, 50 years old passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at her home in Yuma, AZ. Justine was born to her parents Darrell Miguel, deceased of Ft. Yuma and Michele Murphy (Guassac) surviving mother of Ft. Yuma.

Justine grew up in San Diego, CA and graduated from Kearny High School. She attended Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. determined to accomplish her life's goal she moved to Phoenix, AZ with her son, who was 11 years old at the time.

Prior to her illness she worked at Empereon-constar as a Human Resources Specialist and also started to work on her degree at Scottsdale Community College where she obtained her associates degree in business. She was involved in her school activities of the native club at school. She also graduated with honors and was placed on the academic honor roll. Her final completion of school was with cancer. Cancer was the deciding factor in her return home to Ft. Yuma.

She adjusted her course of action for recovery. Recently she was out making her connection­s with the community, visiting family and making new friends. She reached out to the elders and was invited to their groups to gain knowledge. She also planned to enhance her skills in native dress wear. She voiced how happy she was to return home along with her accomplish­ment. Justine was a single mom, very loving and devoted to her son Eric. There was an unbreakabl­e bond between them and she was very protective of him. They went to the movies, watched home movies, ride bikes to the desert area along with other activities.

She also opened her home to a native family and cared for them for a little while. She was very giving, generous and shared what she had. She was there when they needed her. Justine loved people and was a very social and happy person. Her plans and ideas are now no more.

Justine is survived by her son, Eric Murphy of Yuma, AZ; mother, Michele Guassac of Yuma, AZ; step father, Carlos Guassac of San Diego, CA; brother, Virgil Murphy of San Diego, CA; brother, Tsali Guassac of San Diego, CA; sister, Deirdre Guassac of San Diego, CA; brother, Vincent Miguel of Minnesota; also surviving are the many relatives and extended of Ft. Yuma and San Diego areas. She was very proud of who she was and where she came from. You will be missed dearly.

Services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Yuma Mortuary, 775 S. 5th Ave. Yuma, AZ 85364 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm and Traditiona­l Rites will take place Friday, May 10, 2024 at Quechan Big House, 1877 Picacho Rd. Winterhave­n, CA from 5:00 pm to Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 5:00 am.
