To Use Water Rationally
A photo exhibition entitled “Innovative methods of using water resources for sustainable development”, timed to coincide with the World Water Day, has opened in Tashkent.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Program in the country through the project “Technical Capacity Building” of the European Union Program “Sustainable Management of Water Resources in Rural Areas in Uzbekistan”.
Every year, on March 22, World Water Day is celebrated in the world. The day is designed to draw public attention to the state of water bodies and the problems associated with their restoration and protection, to think about the role of water in the life of every person on Earth, the problems of lack of drinking water, the need for conservation and rational use of water resources. The main theme of the World Water Day 2018 is Nature for Water.
The celebration of World Water Day in our country is preceded by a series of activities aimed at promoting the rational use of water and raising public awareness of the value of water resources for the welfare of the country and society as a whole. At these events, which will be held from March 14 to March 16, a great deal of attention will be paid to the role of youth in the rational and effective use of water, discussions with university students on water management and sustainable development are held.
On the first day, discussions took place on the topic “The role of innovations in water management in ensuring food security in Uzbekistan”. On the second day, students of higher educational institutions had an opportunity to participate in various competitions. The events of the final, third day include an exhibition on “Innovative approaches and technologies in the field of water conservation” and an official ceremony to celebrate World Water Day, in which representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources, the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization of Agriculture, the EU Delegation in Uzbekistan, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan.
