Quality and Safe Roads
The German company GP Papenburg AG may manage the construction of toll roads in the regions of Uzbekistan.
Recently, the head of the State Automobile Committee Abdurahmon Abduvaliev and the chairman of board of the German company Gunther Papenburg held talks in Tashkent. The parties discussed the possibility of GP Papenburg AG participation in the construction of highways in Uzbekistan on the principles of public-private partnership.
The German company has successful experience in the CIS countries. Over the past few years, it has implemented a number of projects for the construction of highways with cementconcrete and asphalt concrete in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries.
In Uzbekistan, the Germans successfully completed the project to build a 50-kilometer autobahn with cement-concrete coating on one of the sections of the international route GhuzarBukhara-Nukus-Beineu with a total value of over 66 million euros.
The Uzbek government is keenly discussing projects on the construction of toll roads, the first of which may emerge in 2020. The only problem in this direction is the lack of the necessary legislative base.
However, the first deputy minister of economy of Uzbekistan, Mubin Mirzaev, said recently that the law “On publicprivate partnership” will be ready by mid-2018.
The first toll road can pass from Tashkent to Bukhara via Samarkand. This will be a separate autobahn, parallel to an already existing one. Among its main advantages is the movement at a higher speed than it is expected on the usual routes.
In addition, during the talks the parties discussed the possibility of creating a joint venture, which will manufacture the asphalt mixing plants Teltomat and spare parts for them, as well as repair of special equipment and regeneration of asphalt concrete pavements.
During the meeting, the head of the German company expressed readiness to organize the training of Uzbek specialists to assemble the complexes of asphalt mixing plants with a trip to Germany.
