The day of laughter was not accidentally chosen as the date of the event: the celebrated cunning Afandi is famed for his sparkling humor. The festival gathered a huge number of participants, and a variety of entertainment did not let them get bored.

The festival was organized by the State Committee for Tourism Development in cooperation with the hokimiyat of the Bukhara region, while Uzbekistan Union of Youth and the UzbekJapanese Center in Bukhara also took part in the organization of the occasion.

The celebration of the Day of Laughter was held on a large scale: from Labi Hauz to Ark, artists performed, craftsmen traded, pokers were prepared, music was played. Within the framework of the festival, guests could enjoy theatrical performances with the participation of Afandi himself, try a diversity of meals in the framework of the exhibition “Meals from the East”, which hosted chefs not only from Uzbekistan, but also Turkey and Japan. Among other things, the guests watched the shows of cable walkers, circus performers, and also witnessed the launch of the balloon. And, most interesting, they climbed up on this balloon to survey the neighborhoods of Bukhara from a bird’s-eye view.

From the morning to the evening the music was thundering, with dancing ensembles performing in several spots, and tourists trading a great variety of souvenirs and national products popular in Uzbekistan and abroad.

The event will be held annually and promises to be one of the most looked-forward feasts of spring.
