The Ministry of Economy has called a press conference to discuss progress in the implementation of the program Obod Qishloq and objectives for the future.
The practical embodiment of the program “Thriving Village” was first reflected in the settlement of Manas in Dustlik district, Jizzakh region. Within just 45 days, Manas turned into a well-developed area. Henceforth, the example of this rural community plays as a model for the transformation of the appearance of all villages and for the radical improvement of the social and economic environment.
This year, a total of 416 villages have been undergoing intensive works. Master plans were developed for all rural settlements included in the program. In order to change the appearance of rural areas, what is required is, first of all, repairs and streamlining of houses. In particular, 263 thousand houses underwent stocktaking and it was revealed that 132.4 thousand of them need repair.
To improve the supply of drinking water to the population, it is planned to carry out repair and restoration works for 2 thousand kilometers of irrigation networks, and to improve electricity supply, modernization and reconstruction of 3,971 km of power networks as well as 2,384 transformer points.
In order to improve the provision of natural and liquefied gas, repair of 417 km of gas pipelines is planned. In addition, distribution of 48 thousand gas cylinders was provided for villages, 55 thousand cylinders have been delivered by this moment.
Efforts are underway to repair 2,589 km of roads, including the overhaul of 5 km and repair of 2,584 km. At the same time, scheduled is the maintenance of existing roads with asphalt concrete, other roads will be covered with rubble. Up to now, in the framework of these measures, a total of 1,469 km of highways have been overhauled.
On the instructions of the head of our state, a draft resolution has been elaborated for additional measures to implement the program “Thriving Village” in 2019. It is planned to select out 3 settlements in each district. In accordance with the preliminary target list, construction and improvement works will be carried out in 2019 in 477 villages in 159 districts. It is expected that the designated areas will see works begin on October 1 of this year, and the resolution provides for all necessary organizational arrangements.
