Innovation Ideas: Develop and Introduce
INNOWEEK (Week of Innovative Ideas), organized by the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, has been held at the Uzexpocenter NEC in Tashkent.
Businesspeople, investors, representatives of foreign research and innovation centers, investment funds, technology agencies, technology parks and business incubators have taken part in the events of the week.
The event has sought to create ample opportunities for the implementation of innovative ideas, technologies and projects by providing technology transfer between Uzbekistan and developed countries.
On the first day of the week, innovations implemented in all sectors of the economy and regions of our country were discussed, the public was informed about the essence of the Innovative Development Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019-2021, creating the necessary conditions for our country to join the ranks of the top 50 countries in the world index by 2030.
The International Innovation and Investment Forum started within the framework of the INNOWEEK Innovative Ideas Week at the National Exhibition Center with the active participation of foreign research and innovation centers, investment funds, technology agencies, technology parks and business incubators. At its opening, it was emphasized that the week of innovative ideas, initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is a full-fledged event dedicated to the goals of the year 2018 – the Year of Support for Active Enterprise, Innovative Ideas and Technologies. It will be an important step towards the development and integration of science, production and entrepreneurship in our country.
Representatives of 53 wellknown international organizations and companies, leading experts in the field of science and innovation from more than 30 countries of the world participated in the International Innovation and Investment Forum. During the forum, seven agreements and 21 memorandums among interested organizations, the ministry and its subordinate institutions have been signed.
It should be noted that the essence of the innovation exhibition in the framework of the Innovation Week is the commercialization of scientific inventions that contribute to the development of the economy at a rapid pace. At previous scientific exhibitions held in our country, scientists and research institutions presented scientific novelties that were not introduced in the economic sector, but remained only on paper. It should be noted that these academic developments were not of interest to the economy, and sometimes even were redundant. At this fair, presented were not only innovative developments introduced in the economy of our country, but also advanced technologies of advanced nations, the latest discoveries and innovative ideas.
“Our forum requires a dialogue not only on innovations, but also on investments. Since it is impossible to imagine innovation without investment and vice versa. At the initiative of the ministry, investments in the amount of $ 20.6 million were attracted to strengthen the material and technical base of the research institutes of the Academy of Sciences – the Abu Raihan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies and the Khorezm Academy of Mamun, $ 47.5 thousand for advanced training, internships, participation in conferences of 27 professors, teachers and doctoral students, and $ 5.5 million to organize training for foreign citizen students. In addition, more than $ 14.7 million for 67 domestic higher education institutions have been attracted so far. The nine investment projects to be implemented by the Ministry of Innovation Development in 2019 will be financed by foreign and local investors. Of these, six projects identified sources and volumes, the total value of which amounted to $ 335.7 million. We hope that the forum being held will bring new impetus to our common work. And we look forward to various views, thoughts and innovative ideas from the International Innovation and Investment Forum. We believe that the forum participants will demonstrate innovative sustainable directions that will ensure the prosperity of the future of our people and country,” said Minister of Innovative Development Ibrohim Abdurahmonov.
