Creating New Jobs

The special significance attached in Uzbekistan to the comprehensive promotion of youth entrepreneurship has been facilitating steadfast growth in the contribution made by the growing generation of businesspeople to the national economy.

The ranks of young entrepreneurs are expanding also in the Kashkadarya region. In this case, an important guide to action is the Yoshlar – Kelajagimiz State Program, adopted under a presidential decree on June 27 earlier this year.

Zulkhumor Tosheva from Ghuzor district is one of those promising youths. In 2016, she organized a dry cleaning and ironing station in the district center.

“From my childhood I became interested in entrepreneurship, but I didn’t know where to start,” says Zulkhumor. “I consulted with the district branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. They advised me to organize the work of a dry cleaning shop. Indeed, there were no service points of this kind in our district. After filing proper documents, we began to work. By order of the district hokim, we were allocated an empty building at a zero cost. Having repaired it, modern equipment was brought from China. Now things are going well, our shop is quite popular with customers.”

The establishment of such services in the center of the district was very helpful. The workshop is always busy. When the influx of customers is out of control, they use the services of hired workers. Automation helps a lot in such periods of time.

The businesswoman does not intend to be content with just one point of dry cleaning. Zulkhumor has been expanding her business; she aims to organize a sewing workshop. It is facilitated by the benefits provided under the state program, as well as credit funds in the amount of 150 million soums allocated by the Ghuzor district branch of the Yoshlar – Kelazhagimiz Foundation for building repairs, purchasing sewing equipment and setting up the work of the new enterprise.

“An entrepreneur must act all the time,” says Tosheva. “The funds allocated have helped us purchase 6 sewing machines and other necessary equipment. Works are underway now to repair the building granted for the sewing workshop. With the launch of the shop in the form of a family business, we will start producing women’s and menswear. This will ensure permanent work for another 6 women and girls.”
