Thou­sands of youth to join sum­mer vol­un­teer projects

HCM CITY — HCM City Com­mu­nist Youth Union on Wed­nes­day an­nounced its vol­un­teer cam­paigns for youth for the sum­mer.

Ngoâ Minh Haûi, deputy sec­re­tary of the Hoà Chí Minh Com­mu­nist Youth Union (HCYU), said the cam­paigns aim to pro­mote the im­por­tant role of youth in con­tribut­ing to the city’s cul­tural, so­cial and eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment.

The ac­tiv­i­ties will take place in the city’s 24 dis­tricts, Thoå Chu Is­land of Kieân Giang Prov­ince, sev­eral other prov­inces, and in Laos and Cam­bo­dia.

With the theme “Vol­un­teers Gain Ex­pe­ri­ence and Grow Up”, the 13th

(Red Flam­boy­ant) Vol­un­teer Campaign for 40,000 high school stu­dents and young teach­ers will be­gin on June 3 and end on July 1.

The campaign will in­clude ac­tiv­i­ties to build a “civilised ur­ban” life­style in the city, pro­tect the en­vi­ron­ment, adapt to cli­mate change, and pro­vide cour­ses in so­cial skills and life ex­pe­ri­ences for stu­dents.

From June 24 to Au­gust 12, the 12th (Green

March) Vol­un­teer Campaign is ex­pected to at­tract about 18,000 vol­un­teers.—VNS
