Note that some of these shops will be closed on Sundays. Start early at the Temple of Literature (see Activities) to avoid irksome crowds. When you exit, turn left and left again into Van Mieu. First up at #59 is charitable Koto (see Lunch); Craft Link at #43 / 3733 6101 / craftlink.com.vn / is an excellent non-profit shop with some terrific lacquer, silk and embroidered faff and fash; and Mimoza at #33a / 3747 8732 / has pretty lifestyle this n’ that. Carry on up Van Mieu and you’ll hit Nguyen Thai Hoc, with the Fine Arts Museum (see Art) just across from you. Go on, pop in for a peek. If not, turn right into busy Nguyen Thai Hoc and continue skipping along 350m, before making another right into Yen The. Pick up a bottle of vino from Celliers d’Asie at #18 / 3747 4889 / for post-shop guzzling, and Dome at #10 / 3843 6036 / dome.com.vn / is a top spot for furny. Pop back up to the main Nguyen Thai Hoc road for vibrant Khaisilk at #26 / (see Shop./Hang Gai) / with some good accessories that’s worth a gander. All done, wasn’t that short and sweet.
