New Year resolution
The Government has issued Resolution 01/NQ-CP detailing a raft of measures to support socio-economic recovery this year.
According to the resolution, which was issued after a videoconference between the Government and localities nationwide to review 2021 and set out tasks for 2022, the Government will focus on three key tasks to boost economic recovery and development in 2022, including fostering production and business, stepping up export activities, and accelerate public investment disbursement. Besides a GDP growth of 6%-6.5% and GDP per capita at US$3,900, the Government targeted the consumer price index (CPI) at 4% and the jobless rate in urban areas at below 4%. Strong efforts will be made to safely and flexibly adapt to and effectively control the pandemic, while boosting socioeconomic development.
The Government said it would keep a close watch on the current situation and tap resources to enhance the socioeconomic recovery and development in each sector, locality and the whole country. It would also strive to maintain macroeconomic stability and keep inflation under control.
To develop traffic infrastructure, the progress of key projects, such as some sections of the North-South Expressway, the My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway and the Long Thanh International Airport, will be expedited. In 2021, the country recorded a GDP growth of 2.58% and the consumer price index rose 1.84%. The State budget revenue reached VND1,653 trillion, 16,4% higher than the target. The total import-export value reached US$668.5 billion, surging 22.6% from 2020 and putting Vietnam into the top 20 economies in terms of international trade.
