TCIT – STANDING FIRM THROUGH THE PANDEMIC
2021 – A YEAR FULL OF CHALLENGES AND DIFFICULTIES
Arising and starting to place a heavy impact on life and economy worldwide since the end of 2019, SARS-CoV-2 virus has continued to show its influence in 2021 with unpredictable developments globally in all aspects, in which the maritime transport industry has been also affected when severe port congestions occurred in almost top ports around the world due to the shortage of human resources, in addition to extreme weather conditions in many areas, as well as draconian outbreak prevention policies and electricity crisis in China. As a result, the global supply chain is broken with remarkable high number of delayed/omitted vessels, record container freight rates, long turnover time of empty containers in all markets, which all have made businesses around the world to suffer. In Vietnam, the passable good Covid-19 outbreak control in the year 2020 and first half of 2021 made a good contribution to the growth of the national import/export situation. However, the unpredictable and speedy spreading of the pandemic with the happening of Delta – a new variant of Covid-19 has impacted significantly to the key industries and the whole economic situation of the country.

During the pandemic period, TCIT has always made great efforts to implement the Government’s policy of “Dual goals” while both containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring the smooth-running operation with the proper policies and prompt actions as well as the consensus of all employees. Moreover, TCIT has strengthened the prevention by implementing “3 on site” during the peak of the outbreak; strictly following the 5K principle of the Ministry of Health; applying methods to limit direct contact within the terminal, especially via taking advantage of e-DO, promoting online procedures and payments through the e-Port system, updating system data with handheld to reduce the time of customer container delivery procedures at the gate and making 100% online payments to minimize direct contact; continued to invest in more modern equipment for receiving and handling big-size vessels, thus improving and enhancing operating productivity.
