Ambitious national master plan
The Ministry of Planning and Investment is drafting a national master plan aimed to turn Vietnam into a developed and high-income country by 2045.
Speaking at a teleconference on the national master plan in the 20212030 period with vision to 2050, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that the master plan would help rearrange the country’s development spaces. The country should be developed consistently and the development will not be impeded by the administrative boundaries.
According to Minister Dung, different proposals have been made for the master plan. Accordingly, the country should prioritize resources to establish areas of motivation, economic corridors and growth poles in potential regions. Land and natural resources should be used economically and effectively to ensure the country’s sustainable development.
The national master plan will also focus on forming a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, development spaces in association with developing the national urban area system, and green and smart urban areas as well as on enhancing the connectivity between urban and rural areas.
It was also proposed to set up national development spaces by connecting the mainland and maritime areas, participating in important economic corridors in the region and developing socio-economic activities in border areas while ensuring national defense.
The master plan is expected to help realize the vision of turning the nation into a developing country with modern industrialization and upper middle income by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2050. The Ministry of Planning and Investment expected to submit the national master plan to the Government’s Party Civil Affairs Committee this month before sending it to the Politburo in April and the Party Central Committee the next month.
