NOTES FOR A PERFECT DIVING TRIP

- Text: The Phong - Vinh Le

ACCORDING TO TRAVEL BLOGGER VINH GAU, THERE ARE 3 POPULAR DIVING TRENDS: SNORKELING, SCUBA DIVING AND FREE DIVING. FOR A SAFE DIVING TRIP, CHECK OUT THE FOLLOWING TIPS BY EXPERIENCED DIVER VINH GAU.

SNORKELING

Snorkeling is the easiest and safest mode of diving, whether you can swim or not – of course, being able to swim has its own advantages. Simply lie face down in the water and watch small fish swim around colorful coral reefs with minimal effort.

When snorkeling, you are always asked to wear a life jacket and a snorkel mask. Life jackets will keep you floating on the surface of the water and wearing a mask will prevent water from flowing into your nose or breathing tube while helping you to breathe through your mouth as you comfortably view the underwater landscape. Some places will also provide flippers to help you move through the water quick and easy.

SCUBA DIVING

Scuba diving requires more equipment, such as air tanks, breathing equipment, a buoyancy compensator and a wetsuit.

There are many additional devices that the divemaster will bring along to ensure the group’s safety, including a dive compass to navigate underwater or a surface marker buoy to indicate the diver’s position underwater to those on the surface. Before taking your first dive, you will need to learn and practice in the water with all of the equipment mentioned above to familiarize yourself with diving procedures. You will also have to take tests to ensure you are qualified for scuba diving. Once you have a diving certificate, you can use it to sign up for scuba diving around the world.

FREE DIVING

Free diving is the easiest method of diving because you don’t need to carry a bulky life jacket or a

9 kg cylinder. You just need to bring flippers, a mask, a snorkel, a wetsuit and a diving weight, then relax, hold a deep breath and duck dive into the sea. Free diving is different from scuba diving as your time relaxing underwater depends on your ability to hold your breath.

EPILOGUE

Those who love the sea and enjoy diving should explore the colorful and lively undersea world. But remember to choose a method of diving suitable to your ability. Whatever you choose, becoming knowledgeable and continuing to practice will give you plenty of experience for a fun and safe dive.
