Visa: Vietnamese tourists can apply for a regular visa at the Sri Lanka Embassy or an online visa in the website: www.eta.gov.lk. If you apply for a visa online, you can get your visa and pay for it directly at the airport.

Itinerary: Sri Lanka has only one internatio­nal airport located in Negombo, about 30 km north of Colombo. Vietnamese tourists who want to travel to Sri Lanka must take 2 short flights, requiring transit in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

Time: Sri Lanka has quite a hot climate with an average temperatur­e of 28 - 30oc, the coldest temperatur­e in the winter is 16oc. Therefore, you can travel in any season of the year.

Transport: The bus system, though quite old, runs throughout Sri Lanka and can meet the make for easy travel. The rail system through central highlands of Sri Lanka is a very beautiful route for tourists to experience. If you travel for a short distance of less than 20 km, you can catch a tuk tuk, which are available everywhere, affordable and easy to find.

Accommodat­ion: All famous tourist attraction­s have a network of motels and hotels with many options to choose from. Tourists can also experience luxurious resorts deep in nature reserves, or along the southern coast of the island.

Cuisine: Sri Lanka is part of the Indian continent, so Indian cooking style has a huge impact on its cuisine. Similar to Indian food, Sri Lankan food uses many spices, namely curry, masala and quite spicy black pepper. Street food is also very diverse, but you must be careful because the public health in Sri Lanka are generally not up to the highest safety standards.

Currency: Sri Lanka uses the rupee, 1 rupee is equivalent to about 129 VND.

Souvenir: Sri Lanka is famous for traditiona­l wooden masks, rough gems and typical spices like vanilla. Wood crafts (statues, furniture, decoration­s) are also quite sophistica­ted.

Suggested route: Starting from Colombo, you can take a bus to Kandy, the capital of the Highlands; then take another bus to the tea city of Nuwara Eliya, a beautiful and elegant mountainou­s town like Dalat in Vietnam. From Nuwara Eliya, you can buy a train ticket to the south of

Ella and then continue by bus to the beaches of southern

Sri Lanka, stop by the port city of Galle, then head back north to Colombo.
