Visa: You don’t need to apply for a visa in advance in Vietnam, just go to the airport and queue for a visa. You must pay the fee of 25 USD for 15 days, 40 USD for 30 days and 60 USD for 90 days.

Itinerary: Most airlines flying from Vietnam to Nepal have to transit in Kuala Lumpur. Airasia and Malindo often have cheap tickets to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

Time: Most trekkers come to Nepal in the spring and summer to conquer the highest mountains in the world because the weather in these two seasons is the most beautiful with fewer dangerous snowstorms. However, if you are an adventurer who has a keen interest in winter trekking, you should go to Nepal from November to March.

Transport: Pokhara city is the starting point for trekking routes. From Kathmandu, you can get there by bus or plane. The roads in Nepal are extremely bad, the bus quality is bad too, so you should book an air ticket (priced from 100 to 150 Usd/one way ticket) if it’s possible.

Accommodation: Nepal has many motels and hotels with quality ranging from low to high-end. The cost for an overnight stay ranges from 30 USD to several hundred USD.

Cuisine: Nepalese food is extremely cheap if you know the right place to eat. The cost of a meal for two in a mid-range restaurant is about 40,000 - 160,000 VND. Nepal also has many Korean restaurants with the price of about 350,000 - 500,000 VND/2 people. In many tourist areas, most restaurants will add two extra charges on your bill, including 10% service charge and 13% VAT.

OTHER NOTES:

 You may encounter a lot of risks on your trip, so buying travel insurance is mandatory. The insurance cost is relatively cheap, only about 500,000 VND for 10 - 15 days. The most prestigious travel insurance is AIG and Liberty, including emergency helicopter rescue service.

 The trekking routes are quite long, you should take good care of your health and always remember to eat and drink regularly.

Currency: Nepal uses the rupee (NPR) and 1 NPR is equivalent to about 202 VND.

Expected costs: 27 - 29 million Vnd/person for a 13day trip, including air tickets, meals, hotels, mountain tours, insurance and entrance fees.
