THE LOUVRE MUSEUM IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED

A Louvre spokesperson said that the museum would be temporarily closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world, and welcomes 5,000 visitors daily. Most of the Louvre’s 9.6 million visitors last year came from abroad. Therefore, there are real concerns about the risk of virus spread in the museum’s confined space.

It was unclear when the Louvre would reopen, but the Louvre management later confirmed that the museum would refund ticket-holders.
